These travellers are not like us at all

THE Your Views letter (Mail, May 20) entitled "Just like everybody else" regarding our travelling people has prompted this short response as they are not like us at all.

We must tax our vehicle if left on the highway.

We must inform Swansea if untaxed and off road.

We may not park in a lay-by overnight.

We may not cut trees without permission.

We may not cut hedges in the nesting season.

We must provide portaloos and sanitation for all roadside workers.

We must dispose of this sewage at an approved site.

As for our emergency service lack of access, I think they did very well when a child was burnt, allegedly playing with an aerosol near a fire.

So the man waiting for the bus with his guitar and dog on a rope, regardless of the bus’ carbon footprint, is not like us. He’s a busker living on charity regardless where that charity comes from.
