I REFER to the letter you published by Peter Rogers on the latest developments within Ynys Môn County Council.
I’m surprised at his line of attack given that I have spent a considerable amount of time on the matter in recent weeks as your readers might expect.
I have spoken to a number of councillors both from within the current ruling group and opposition members.
Mr Rogers was one of the delegation of opposition councillors who came to see me on April 9. I have also met the team who have been looking at the issues raised in the Auditor’s letter and spent some considerable time preparing my response to the questions they posed.
It is not my role to interfere in the internal workings of the council or to demand who should be the chair of committees. That is a matter for councillors to decide, of whom Mr Rogers is one.
The council will now await the conclusions of the team charged with looking at the issues raised in the Auditor’s letter.
Eventually the Minister for Local Government in the Assembly will announce his decision. The Plaid group on the Council has made it clear that if an intervention by the Assembly is proposed that will be welcomed.
