PWLLHELI 2NDS 0 MENAI BRIDGE 12
ALTHOUGH Menai were full value for their win at Bodegroes they had to work hard for it.
Both teams fielded comparatively young sides with Bridge again without several of their seasoned forwards. However, the youngsters, some in unaccustomed positions, did very well.
Menai’s tries, after half an hour and then late on, were scored by their outstanding full-back Jamie Hughes.
For the first he entered the back-line at pace, outwitting several would-be defenders before touching down under the posts. Outside-half Iwan Jones added the conversion.
The second try that finally sealed victory was created by inside-centre Sam Williams who produced the initial thrust down midfield putting Hughes clear into a narrow space down the left flank .With great determination he forced his way over in the corner after a 40-metre run.
