AMLWCH and Trearddur Bay will dominate the latter stages of this season’s Benllech Cars Anglesey Snooker League’s Halifax Shield.
The Shield is a handicapped knockout where total points scored over six frames decides the winner.
In the quarter finals Amlwch Whites recorded their first win of the season as they took on Beach Blues. The handicapping system meant the Whites started with a 70-point lead and this proved to be more than enough as they held on for a comfortable victory.
League leaders Railway Club paid for their 100% record by giving Beach Reds a whopping 210-point head start.
Reds captain Steve Kelsall crucially won the first frame 73-49 to extend that lead and despite Paul Hinchliffe, Paul Hughes, Ritchie Roberts and RV Jones all scoring heavily the Holyhead side lost by 38 points.
Cemaes felt they were a little unlucky having won five of the six frames against Beach Yellows not to progress.
The Yellows were given a 70 head start after their indifferent league form and after Jim Ainscough won the third frame 105-15 they were never likely to be caught.
Amlwch Blue made sure it would be two Amlwch teams as well as two from Trearddur in the semis as they held on to their advantage to defeated Wylfa Reds.
