LLANGOLLEN 20 MENAI BRIDGE 0
WRU DIVISION THREE NORTH
DOMINATED in the forwards, Menai Bridge were left still searching for their first win in three north following Saturday’s defeat at Llangollen.
Most of the first period was played in Menai’s half, but for the first 20 minutes the visitors held strong with hooker Michael Shawe displaying exceptional tackling.
After 20 minutes, however, Bridge’s defence was overwhelmed when Steven Evans, Llangollen’s number eight, crashed over, with fly-half Ashley Jones converting to make it 7-0 at half time.
With Menai getting frustrated over lack of possession they gave a penalty away in front of the posts soon after the turnaround which Jones landed.
Llangollen were playing off Menai’s mistakes when outside centre Ben Long blatantly knocked on, but with the referee not spotting it crossed over for the try.
Menai picked themselves up and held onto possession in Llangollen’s 22, but 20 minutes of pressure brought no reward.
Weak tackling let Long through for his second try before the end.
This Saturday Menai Bridge travel to Harlech.
