Poetry event is back at Bangor cafe

THIS month POETica makes a welcome return to Blue Sky café, High Street, Bangor.

POETica is the exciting stage for international spoken word performance in Bangor, bringing spoken word and live literature together in a fresh blend of slam, experiential art and poetry.

Headlining the month’s show on Friday, January 29 will be Andy Craven-Griffiths, who started writing out of anger and carried on because he loved saying things and liked it when people listened.

His distinctive voice and sensitive, down to earth perspective have won him slams at the Glastonbury and the Manchester Lit Festivals, and brought him performances alongside some of the most renowned names in poetry.

Supporting Andy, and booked through popular demand – Ukulele Kev Rogers, the infamous handyman himself, and his backing band Pyjama Party will be gracing the stage with their witty words and giggle-inducing lyrics.

As those who are regulars will know, love and expect, the night will include the amazing open mic, and in honour of Pyjama Party, the theme this month is Pyjamas - so root out those favourite slippers, get that smoking jacket out of its mothballs, and dust down the negligée.

Blue Sky will be serving their marvellous tapas, so arrive hungry and gobble it all up.

7.30pm - Tickets £4.
