Holyhead dramatists put on Treasure Island

A PART of Holyhead is set to shed the current frigid chill and become a tropical paradise later this month.

Holyhead drama troupe, The Penrhos Players, will be taking to the stage with their annual pantomime.

This year their festive treat is Robert Louis Stephenson tale of high seas adventure, Treasure Island, which has been adapted by David Huntingdon from Benllech.

John Morgan Jones, of the Penrhos Players, said: "It will be only the second time this version has been performed. The show contains all the usual characters you might expect in Stevenson’s epic adventure story and includes the evil Long John Silver and his gang of Blind Pew and Polly.

"Follow our heroes Billy, Jim and his mum Marie Celeste with all their friends seeking the treasure and living happily ever after.

"Lots of adventure and incidents against spiders, bats, an octopus, a friendly gorilla, Sirens and Daisy Jones a slightly mad keeper of the undersea Locker.

"Can they survive walking the plank and a tribe of cannibals to live happily ever after?"

Performances take place at Ysgol Uwchradd Caergybi on Friday , January 15 and Saturday, January 16 starting at 7pm.

Tickets are available from the Chocolate Box, Irene’s Fish Shop and Rob’s Barbers.
