BANDA Bacana are a vibrant multicultural seven piece band based around Bangor which draws upon upon a wealth of varied and impressive musical backgrounds to create some fresh and exhilarating dancefloor-filling sounds.
Playing some seriously catchy tunes, they go from slinky Latin grooves through supple Afrobeat and Caribbean rhythms to James Brown inspired funk.
Already with an impressive live reputation, the band's debut album Danza Negra is out this week and is being launched on Sunday, November 22, with an Afro Latin Party at the Victoria Hotel in Menai Bridge.
Starting at 3pm the event goes on until about 10pm with a variety of attractions lined-up for a pre- Christmas carnival of music and dance.
Apart from the Bacanas who will be playing two sets -one in the afternoon and one in the evening - also featured are the Jochen Eisentraut Trio, Latin Groove Collective, Capoeira Pais de Galles, Cheap Frills Can Can Grrlz, Jah Bar Collective featuring Dj's Hippy Ad, Senor Tim, Jah Mary, N-Rich and Ralpho plus dance instructor Helen Mcgreary doing her funky dance class during the afternoon.
There is also a prize for the best fancy dress!
Tickets for the event are £5 and are on sale now from Cob Records in Bangor and Palas Print in Caernarfon.
