Stacey Cohen and The Wild Mountain Giants play Caernarfon

BACK from their packed out London and Brighton gigs, Stacey Cohen and The Wild Mountain Giants are set to play the Anglesey Arms in Caernarfon this Friday, November 13, as one of their final tour dates and dates for this year.

Although the band is primarily folksy and bluesy, using guitars, double-bass and keyboards and drums, there is always something out of the ordinary from Magnus on Indian Harmonium to Stacey and Dave on a vintage synth or gazoo or whatever little weird and wonderful happens to happen.

Their influences are wide ranging from early (skiffle) rock ‘n’ roll to electro, Jazz comedy and much more. They have come to develop their own unique sound which they describe as folky, bluesy, crazy, jazzy, earthy, cheeky magical mountain music.

Stacey Cohen’s songs and voice have an emotional content, sometimes slightly drunken, urban and saucy, sometimes sweet, folky and angelic. This contrasts beautifully with the incredible great growling force of singer-songwriter and dobro player Dave Hopewell (the Rice Hooligan Orchestra and the Cane Toads) whose sound is rich, deep and gravelly, with a strong old, American, blues influence.

Catch them at the Anglesey Arms this Friday, November 13, Y Fricsan, Cwm Y Glo, Friday, November 20, and supporting Nathan Ball at the Greek in Bangor, Saturday, November 28 (acoustic).
