DANCE enthusiasts are in for a treat as the Criw Cymru cultural experience comes to Caernarfon.
Fusing the traditional with the contemporary, Criw Cymru are looking for young folk, street and urban dancers and musicians to become part of a unique project at Galeri.
Three different workshops held in Caernaerfon over June 6-7 will culminate in a climatic dance-off, accompanied by live music from the contemporary music workshops.
Criw Cymru is the first cultural project in Wales to be granted the London 2012 Inspire mark as part of the Cultural Olympiad.
Street dancing workshops for young people aged 10 and over will be led by the experienced hip-hop dance tutor Liara Williams who was also responsible for training the recent winner of S4C’s Dawnstastic in 2008. She will be assisted by Dawns i Bawb tutor Colin Daimond.
Step-dancing workshops for folk dancers over 10 will be led by acclaimed step and clog dancing tutor Jennifer Matulla.
The workshops offer a wonderful opportunity to learn basic steps and create a brand new dance piece in two days.
For those more interested in music than dancing, hip-hop folk fusion work shops will be held.
Aron Elias will lead an exploration of hip-hop and folk styles in order to work with participants in creating a unique sound to accompany the dance- off.
The classes run over June 6-7 between 11am and 3.30pm. Tickets for the two days cost £8.
