Holyhead's Ucheldre Centre announces January-March line-up

THE Ucheldre Centre in Holyhead has announced its line-up from January until the end of March and, as usual, offers a busy and entertaining programme.

There is an equally stunning music programme starting with a fundraising concert by Casey Jones and Friends (January 10); Clybod (January 17); guitarist Steve Gibbs (January 24), and Holyhead’s own band The Lizzies (January 30).

Saturday, January 31, sees pianist Iwan Llewelyn-Jones return, and the following week, Saturday, February 7, the Academy of Ancient Music will be back at the centre.

Welsh harpist Catrin Finch visits the Ucheldre again for what is bound to be another sell-out concert on Friday, February 13, while on Saturday, February 14, the centre hosts a special 1930s Supper Dance!

Ensemble Cymru begin another series of concerts on Sundays, February and March 15, and the young musicians on the island supported by Anglesey Music Trust show off their talents (February 27), followed by South Korean pianist Young-Choon Park performs on Friday, March 7.

Dramas continue as always and back by popular demand, the Ucheldre Repertory Company perform Talking Heads on Friday and Saturday, February 20-21.

The European Arts Company present ‘The Pickwick Papers’ (March 4), and award-winning storyteller Daniel Morden brings us The Sleeping Beauty and Alcestis on Friday and Saturday, March 13-14.

On Friday, March 27, Prof David Crystal talks about his latest book, Txtng: the gr8 db8.

The usual clubs – music, jazz, acoustic, art, repertory, Rhwng and literary continue.

Writers and poets such as Lloyd Robson, Kevin McCann, Maggie Bevan, Meredith Andrea, and John Sam Jones will be appearing at the centre as part of the literary society programme to which non- members are welcome.

There will also be plenty of films and exhibitions on show.
