Anglesey performing arts week kicks off at Holyhead

THE first ever Anglesey performing arts week is now on.

The event offers residents the chance to sample everything from salsa dancing to play writing.

Heather Evans, of Holyhead’s Ucheldre Centre, said: "A series of events are being held on the island, celebrating and promoting the diverse talent on Anglesey, including the Holyhead Arts Festival."

Leaflets of forthcoming events are available at local libraries, hotels, schools and at the Ucheldre Centre.

The timetable runs until Sunday, November 2.

The week is being organised by the Anglesey Arts Forum in association with Holyhead Arts Festival and other island organisations.

Some events include Ysgol Uwchradd Caergybi’s performance of Grease this evening and tomorrow (Wednesday and Thursday), a free play writing course by Myrrha Stanford- Smith at the Ucheldre tonight from 7pm-9pm, Barton Dance and Drama and Anna Baker School of Drama and Performing Arts sessions, a free guitar workshop with Richard Durrant at the Ucheldre, salsa, belly dancing, short films and acoustic sessions, in locations across the island from Holyhead to Menai Bridge.
