Bangor University piano trio play Powis Hall

BANGOR University’s very own Bohemia Piano Trio opens the 2008-09 concert series with a performance in Powis Hall on Thursday, October 2, at 8pm.

This first concert welcomes back the resident ensemble, Jonathan Rees (violin), Ioan Davies (cello) and Jana Frenklova (piano), in a concert with music by Beethoven and Tchaikovsky.

This year’s concert series promises to be as exciting as ever with performances from the university’s other resident ensembles, the Allegri String Quartet and Ensemble Cymru, alongside the best student talent and other visiting performers.

The music on offer will vary from the larger scale performances provided by the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and University Symphony Orchestra, to a fun-filled evening with Northern Harmony choir, and even a staged performance of John Blow’s Venus and Adonis by the Bangor Baroque Soloists and Voices.

The autumn season of the concert series also welcomes a new venture between Music at Bangor and Dwyfor Coffee Company, who will be providing Fair Trade light refreshments at each of the concerts.

Tickets will be available on the door, or in advance using the online booking service at www.ecommercegateway.co.uk/bangor/store
