Anglesey director's second chance at Theatr Fach

ANGLESEY’S answer to Andrew Lloyd Webber, Audrey Mechell, will be hoping it’s second time lucky as she prepares to stage a show at Theatr Fach Llangefni.

The final touches are now taking place to the production of Yr Etifedd, a Welsh translation of The Heiress, a 1940s Broadway play turned into an iconic film directed by William Wyler with Olivia de Havilland in the lead role playing Catherine Sloper.

The film and play are based on the book by Henry James called Washington Square.

The cast had intended to perform Yr Etifedd, in February but due to cast illness the show could not go on.

Audrey said: "We’ve got new members of the cast this time around.

"A few of the cast that we had eariler in the year have not been able to join us now because of other commitments which is a shame.

"One of our lead actors Richard Williams, who played the father, fell ill on stage and had to be taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd barely five minutes into our first show."

Yr Etifedd opens on Tuesday September 2, and runs until Saturday, September 6, performances start at 7.30pm.
