Aldi store opens at Llangefni

The company have also announced a special one-off Community Grants Chest to help local organisations.

The scheme offers grants of up to £300 to not-for-profit community groups and organisations in the Llangefni area.

The Community Chest will support a variety of projects and the application process has intentionally been kept straightforward in order to encourage as many groups as possible to apply.

Mark Hewlett, Aldi's property director for the region said: “Due to the company’s continued growth and success in North Wales we are proud to be able to give something back.

“As a company we have strong values in terms of our social responsibility and we take our commitment to integrating with areas local to our stores very seriously.

“By setting up this dedicated Community Chest we hope to foster links with the local community at Llangefni and the surrounding area. We hope to receive a wide variety of applications and cannot wait to see Aldi funds starting to make a difference in the community.”

For an application form and guidelines, groups should contact (01286) 685213.
