A 50-BED extra care facility for older people is set to be built on the outskirts of Llangefni.
Councillors voted in favour of half of the plans submitted by developer Glyn Pritchard-Jones of St Malo.
The first part of his application, to build 139 homes between Benllech and Talwrn roads could still be on the horizon, as land at Ty’n Coed is earmarked for housing in the new Local Development Plan (LDP) currently out to consultation with the public.
Several councillors were unhappy that the planning department had split the application into two parts. A vote was needed to judge the houses and extra care facility individually
Planning officer David Pryce-Jones said that the reason for splitting the planning application was because a portion of land earmarked for housing was outside the current development boundary.
