Protesters against Capel Coch centre gather at council

Protest

PROTESTERS turned out in their droves on Wednesday to voice their anger at a proposed drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre.

Residents from the small village of Capel Coch, near Llangefni, gathered outside Anglesey Council offices ahead of a meeting to make their feelings heard.

They are furious that their small village has been chosen for the site of a rehabilitation centre, and more than 180 people have signed a petition while 71 letters of objection have also been sent in.

CAIS, the drugs and alcohol agency behind the plan, wants to move from its current rehabilitation centre in Bangor.

Mike Denman, director of strategy with CAIS, said he understood people’s concerns but that clients were committed to reforming.

Council planners decided to defer the decision for a month.
